The Malaysia-Korea Charity Gala Night, held at the Putri Ballroom, Damai Lagoon Resort in Santubong, was a prestigious event attended by the guest of honour, YAB Premier of Sarawak, The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg. Organized by SEDC Sarawak, OCIM Sdn Bhd, and Green Generation, with Puan Sri Nur Ashima Aziz, the Director of Green Generation, as a co-organizer, the event aimed to launch the “Green Generation” initiative to promote green energy, sustainability, and education.
The gala raised funds for Yayasan Ilmu Sarawak’s scholarship program, supporting students in Sarawak and Korea, and for PERKATA Sarawak, which focuses on improving the lives of children with disabilities. A highlight of the evening was a fundraising performance by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who raised over RM180,000 through his singing.
Distinguished guests included Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and other prominent figures. Performances by Korean singer and actor Kim DaHyun and Malaysia’s Jaclyn Victor entertained the crowd, while key donors such as Datin Patinggi Puan Sri Datuk Wira Lorna Enan Muloon Chan and OCIM Sdn Bhd pledged RM50,000 each.
